#1 in the Series: ‘Heroes of the Faith’

It has been said that ‘we are nothing if we do not have faith’, probably because faith in God gives our lives meaning, purpose, and direction. Enoch had a strong faith in God, and “he was commended as one who pleased God” (Hebrews 11:6), because “Enoch walked with God” (Genesis 5:22 & 24). Jeff explains what this means.

It was Enoch’s world that was flooded. Enoch’s was a time of great spiritual & moral declension [deterioration]. Such that his grandson, Noah, obeyed God and built an ark, and saved his family and the animals – the flood then came and washed all others away. When we compare Enoch’s faith to the environment he lived in he is seen to be even more remarkable. Is our environment also in moral declension? It certainly appears that way. So when will God say ‘enough is enough’ and carry out his promise to end the world as we know it? We don’t know, but we do know that his promised time will come, so this prompts us to build our faith on Jesus rather than base our life on our own good works.
