This sermon:

Getting the Right Balance

Adam speaks from Paul’s letter to those living in Corinth, a city renowned in antiquity for its debauchery. Renowned for seeking pleasure – 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. This is Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians that has been preserved for us, as the book of 1 Corinthians in the Bible. Though we may not like to admit it, Corinth is much like our city today, so this letter has much to teach us today. As Christians, we have been washed, sanctified and justified, which means that we are forgiven and declared innocent. We were ugly, but when we confess our sins and repent, then God sees us as beautiful sons and daughters, changed in his eyes, from sinners to saints. But our individual personalities can still be a danger for each one of us. Are you prone to self-righteousness, or condemning others, or prone to be casual to sin? We long for justice, and God promises that justice will come to all. Are you prepared to face his justice? If you’re earnestly waiting for Jesus, then you have got all that you need!
