No 3 in the series ‘Heros of the Faith’
There is much detail on Gideon written in the Bible book of Judges. And he also gets an honourable mention in Hebrews 11:32. God’s people went through cycles of rebellion, followed by justified punishment; then their cry out to God for help; then God responds with deliverance. But this cycle is repeated many many times, just like our behaviour today when we rebel. It is sad that we don’t learn from history, which constantly repeats itself. Jeff helps us to see this reality by comparing Gideon’s life with his own – history repeated.
The answer for us all is to turn to God who is faithful and just, and who loves all people. But he only saves those who willingly and sincerely turn to him. Sure, even many of those who ignore God (which is actually rejecting him) often appear to prosper. But the overall outcome is not so. Even in this life it is often evident through failed marriages; plus hostilities with major conflicts and sadness. Turn to God, because he will always accept those who seek him. It will change your life and bring untold happiness, regardless of circumstances that you find yourself in. That is God’s promise, and he always keeps his promises.
