This sermon:

Good Friday – Easter

Some people say “This Christian thing is complete nonsense, I could not believe in a God who judges“ It is worth considering if this is valid or not because justice is something that we all crave, something that we ultimately believe in. Instinctively we know that punishment for wrong, is right. And, of course, God requires that for ALL too, without exception. But we want to live exactly as we want. God has told us in his word, in the Bible, that yes, judgement WILL come to ALL. And when there is judgement then there is also punishment. And it is clear, throughout the Bible, that our wrongs will be punished. Thankfully, that is why Jesus went to the cross on Good Friday for those who believe in him. Good Friday is good for Christians because this is when our punishment was taken by Jesus on our behalf. You can become a Christian, saved from God’s judgement and punishment, simply by honestly confessing your wrongs to Jesus and seeking his forgiveness, then growing to follow his example.
