No 5c in the series ‘Heros of the Faith’. This is the last of a three part sermon on Hezekiah

Isn’t it good to know the Lord, to understand his word and to follow it as best we can. Well king Hezekiah seems to have done pretty well at this, and was helped by having Isaiah as his court prophet for advice. Perhaps it was Isaiah who mentored the young boy Hezekiah before he became king, and who taught him how terribly evil Hezekiah’s father Ahab was. These are details we don’t know, but we do know that Hezekaiah was a great man of prayer, and we also know that God miraculously answered Hezekiah’s prayers. But there was a time when Hezekiah did not learn from his previous mistakes and so God allowed consequences that affected his children far more than it affected him. The sad thing is that Hezekiah did not seem even the least bit concerned that what he had done was going to have a disastrous affect on all his people, including his own sons. My we all show concern for others, at least as much as for our children. This is my prayer to God.
