This sermon:

I AM #2&3 “I AM The Good Shepherd” and “I AM the Gate for the Sheep”

This is the second and third in the “I AM – God” series. There are two I AM statements by Jesus in this talk by Phil “I AM The Good Shepherd” and “I AM The Gate” and both refer to the sheep. Jesus often referred to sheep as examples, helping us to understand how we should fit comfortably in this, his world, and most importantly, how we need to relate to God himself. He also refers to his people becoming like little children and regarding him as our perfect heavenly father. No one has ever had a perfect father, but God perfectly loves and cares for us, though sometimes me may not see or feel his love, particularly when life is tough and we are walking (if able to walk) ‘thorough the valley of the shadow of death‘ (Psalm 23). However, thankfully, we CAN ‘walk’ through tough times, but it is always dramatically better to do so with our heavenly father by our side. He promises to be with us 24 hours a day if we will simply call on him, listen to him, and strive to obey him. This can be hard for us fallen humans to grasp, but when you earnestly seek him, then he promises that he WILL come to you. What is tough for us is that God’s timing is his timing, which may mean major discomfort and hurt before any positive thing happens. And the outcome may not be what we desire, but be assured, that it is the best for you when you submit to him. Remember that God never breaks his promises, and he never ceases to love those who love him. This is his nature, and he cannot change.
