Often we believe and behave like our parents, both for good and bad. So we need to critically analyse OUR own beliefs. Paul lays out the challenge for us in these passages from the Bible. Is what we believe true? It is easier for us to not question what is laid down deep inside us from a very young age. This applies to how we treat others, handle our money, whether we are charitable or not, and many other beliefs. Also how we manage our time, talents and skills. These are given to us to be shared with others, to help them in life, just as Jesus has shared with us. If you have been blessed in this life, with resources, skills and talents, and have been given a ‘hard work’ ethic, and you are not badly off, then we are to be generous and ready to share with those who need help. But this goes against the grain. I dare you to listen to this and be challenged, no matter how rich or poor you are.
