It is interesting that Jesus biography focuses almost exclusively on just the last three years of his life, and particularly his last week. Today we remember the first PALM SUNDAY, when Jesus made his triumphal entry into Jerusalem to great rejoicing of the crowd. Jeff points us to where everyone should have known that all this was going to happen; read Zechariah 9:9-10. But then the people turn violently against Jesus, which we are reminded of every Easter time. But what benefit was there in Jesus dying that week? Matthew 1:21 tells us that at the time of his birth, Jesus “will save his people from their sins” – he had to die for this to take effect for us. Jesus refers to this in John 12:31-32, then John 12:33 confirms “the kind of death he was going to die.” “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts…” Colossians 3:15. This is the real regime change, brought about for us by Jesus.
