#5 in the Series: ‘Fruit of the Spirit’

Have you ever had to stand in the dock to receive judgement for something wrong that you have done? Or perhaps you have been a supporter for someone in that situation? God is our judge, but thankfully God is a kind judge and has what appears to be endless patience with us. BUT, apart from the consequences from doing wrong things, God’s patience does come to an end. Just like someone facing judgement in a court, the person standing there can only await the judgement and the penalty to be served on them. Fortunately with God he does give us a way out, and that is to TURN TO HIM NOW before it is too late, seeking his forgiveness. And fortunately God’s mercy is freely available for those who accept Jesus as their Lord and saviour, turning to embrace his will.

Ah, but the penalty still has to be paid for there must be a just judgement. Again, fortunately the penalty has been paid for those who accept Jesus. Because Jesus paid the penalty on our behalf, but he only paid it for those who have turned to him before it is too late. This is easy, because everything has been done by Jesus, and all we need to do is accept Jesus, accepting Jesus before it is too late.

This sounds major, and IT IS MAJOR, and it reflects God’s kindness to us sinners, which we all are. God’s kindness isn’t spread about randomly. It is not just to make people in general feel comfortable. The purpose of God’s kindness is to turn hearts back to him in repentance. God’s kindness is deliberate and intentional, with a specific purpose in mind – to lead people to repentance.
