If tennis is a game that you love, or at least relate to, or if you follow its history, then the play between the two John’s in this video should tickle you. The Apostle John, who lived at the same time as Jesus, wrote to us his gospel message. This is the message of good news that reveals Jesus Christ to us, which is included in the book of the Bible that John wrote, which we know as “The Gospel of John”. This is why the apparently repetitive title of Ian’s sermon message.

Ian then goes on to explain why this is good news to all who will listen carefully to hear it, whether as someone who is already a believer in the person and work of Jesus and the message that he brings us, or as someone who rejects Jesus. He also explains that not accepting Jesus means that we default as rejecters of Jesus, and he uses the following example that we can more easily understand. ‘If one of my kids ignores me or tells me I am not relevant, I would feel rejected; and wouldn’t you?‘ This illustrates that just ignoring Jesus or deeming him to be irrelevant is actually a decision to reject him.

Ian helps us to understand the consequences of rejection, and also the delights of acceptance. We all like to feel accepted. And Jesus expects nothing else from us, because Jesus is the best, the greatest, and is in charge of all. Ian also explains what makes Jesus different and why he is the best. Also why we should read more about Jesus and determine how this needs to affect our lives, whether currently as a believer or whether someone who has not yet considered belief in Jesus.
